Salted Caramel



What do apples, popcorn and ice cream all have in common? They’re perfect with a little caramel sauce! Most of us have had the stuff from the squeeze bottle but nothing can quite match the home made stuff.
When you add a little bit of salt it really highlights and brings out the flavor. We’ve made a simple recipe for making your own at home.

Preparation Equipment:

Cooking Equipment:
• Sauce pan

Shopping List:
• ¼ cup water
• 1 cup sugar
• 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream
• 3 tablespoons unsalted butter cut into 3 pieces
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 teaspoon salt from FinaMill




    1. In sauce pan mix water sugar until thoroughly dissolved and bubbling on medium heat.
    2. Increase the heat to high and bring to a boil, stop stirring completely. Let the mixture continue boiling until it turns an amber color, 4-12 minutes.
    3. Remove from the heat and slowly whisk in the heavy cream. Carefully watch the mixture as it might bubble quite a bit. Mix in the butter, vanilla, and salt (using FinaMill) one at a time.
    4. Pour the caramel sauce into a dish and allow to cool completely, then cover and store in the refrigerator. The sauce should thicken when cooled.
